Project Manager / Lead Carpenter

Boone, NC

Job Role:

Our new venture is seeking a talented Project Manager/Lead Carpenter who's comfortable both behind the computer and also behind the tools. This candidate would utilize technology on a daily basis to plan projects, manage budgets, and coordinate teams—but would also bring their skills in carpentry to the jobsite, being perfectly okay with getting a little dirt under their nails when necessary. To be clear—this is NOT an office job.

In this position, you will:

  • Lead residential construction projects end-to-end, including hands-on tasks as required.

  • Need to be comfortable working with plans, organizing tasks, and estimating budgets.

  • Determine required equipment, materials, manpower, and participate in on-ground construction activities.

  • Implement job site safety and ensure compliance with building standards.

  • Effective at multitasking to handle project management and skilled carpentry tasks.

  • Build positive relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Recruit and provide guidance to subcontractors while executing hands-on work alongside when required.

  • Problem solve onsite, providing necessary hands-on input to maintain schedules and quality.

  • Perform skilled carpentry and other manual skills as necessary on site.

Qualifications:

  • An inquisitive mind that is always searching for new and exciting solutions.

  • A positive outlook and attitude.

  • Extensive experience in construction with a strong carpentry background. Specific experience in mountainous environments is a huge plus.

  • Broad knowledge of construction procedures and project management principles.

  • Comprehensive understanding of safety and building regulations.

  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.

  • Effective leadership, alongside hands-on, practical skills.

  • A degree or relevant qualification in construction management, architecture, or related field is preferred. However, vast hands-on experience can substitute for formal education.

  • An appreciation of authenticity and integrity of enduring craftsmanship.

Benefits:

  • 4 weeks paid vacation per year

  • 9 paid holidays

  • Employer-sponsored health benefits and group dental/vision plans

  • Employer-matched 401k retirement plan

  • Profit-sharing opportunities

  • Mileage reimbursement for travel during the workday

  • Daily collaboration with builders, architects, and millworkers

  • Options to foster professional growth

  • Work alongside an optimistic, creative, and collaborative team

We're confident that this role will appeal to a rare breed of construction professionals: those who are leadership material with strong management skills, yet aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves, pick up the tools, and dig into the work firsthand.
